November BOM 2018 – Birds on Branches

I am asking you to include in this month’s strip, but not exclusively one or more birds. It’s your choice on the size and number of birds to complete this month’s
strip/panel. Measure the length of your first strip and remember that each strip should be that length. The width is always your decision.

Working outside our comfort zone is always a little intimidating. Put yourself at ease and do what you like, large, small, one or ten, traditional or funky it’s your strip show, and no one needs to like it but you. I have included the bird block pattern I used. Each bird is made in the same fashion, just different fabric and different dimensions. This bird strip will be the high light of the guild meeting. I can’t wait for it to take flight.

Be sure to check out Pinterest and search bird quilts, Pat O and Karen P have, and boy did they create a fun strip The quilt as you go class (January 12th) has been combined with Elizabeth’s class on how to set last year’s BOM into a quilt. Once we have the details ironed out, we’ll let everyone know the specifics.
I look forward to our first strip show.

Piece,

Mary

P.S. – Here is a very simple bird paper-piecing pattern similar to Mary’s: https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/bird-block/201540
