October BOM 2018 – Churn Dash

This month l would like you to use the churn dash pattern of your choice and size. Mine is quite straight forward. It is a 12 ½ inch block and I made 5 of them. There are a lot of free patterns on the internet or maybe you have one in one of your books. Also, check out our library. You could make some funky churn dash blocks, too. I’ve added a strip in between each block so the row is the correct size. As you have seen, I’ve also added a beige strip to each side. As with all my stripping, I’ve kept the same color wave throughout the row/strip.

November will be our last row/strip before we have the “quilt as you go” class. You should be thinking about your backing for each of the rows. You will need separate backing for each row, about 1 ½ inch bigger on all sides. The batting will be the same size as your backing. There will be more instructions regarding the class in the next month as to where, when, and more specifics.

If you already know how to quilt, go ahead and sandwich your strips separately and quilt them however you desire, making sure you quilt all the way to edges. You can quilt as little or as much quilting as you want. Each strip will be joined to the next using a one-inch strip on one side and a two-inch strip on the other. For those of you that have not quilted before, you can do that at the “quilt as you go” class. I hope you are listening to some good music as you strip. I don’t think there is a stripper alive who doesn’t strip to music I look forward to our first strip show!

Piece,

Mary
