Corns & Beans: A Patchwork Potluck
All Levels
Machine Piecing
It’s a Patchwork Potluck with a favorite block, Corn and Beans. Join in the fun by working with lot of different fabric squares from the purchased kit. Or if you prefer, you can provide your own fabric of 24 squares of 8×8″ which is enough for 12 blocks. The quilt in the photo below is bigger than the class project and would require 96 8×8” squares.

Machine Piecing
Creating Quilts from Space Junk. This workshop allows students to rid themselves of all those orphan blocks and UFO’s (aka – those Aliens living in your closets) and create a truly UNIQUE and wonderful quilt – large or small. Each student creates a one-of-a-kind quilt and finally leaves a workshop with a finished top! If you don’t have enough orphans, just lament this fact to your quilting friends and they might just have a few to donate.

Machine Piecing
“Join Dora Cary of Orange Dot Quilts in a fun class where each student will be making a gorgeous quilt using only one piece of fabric (6 yards of it). The best fabric for this class should have a large print, a 22″ to 24″ repeat along the selvage and a good amount of negative space. The Only One pattern uses a simplified stack-and-whack technique to create stunning quilts with an edgy, modern vibe. You will learn several fast piecing techniques, a way to reduce bulk at intersecting seams, plus learn about layout, composition and color placement. The class takes two days, one for cutting and sewing the blocks and one for finishing sewing the blocks and composing the quilt. By the end of the class you should have an almost finished quilt top that can be as large as a Twin size or as small as you wish. I you have questions about the class or how to choose the right fabric for the Only One pattern, please email Dora at orangedotquilts@gmail.com or text her at 805.423.4755.”

Machine piecing/ Ruler Work
Lunch is potluck, but if you prefer your own sack lunch, please do so.
Robin Long will teach a Mariners Compass class using strip piecing and a ruler and not foundation pieced. The result is an easier way to get those very sharp and accurate points. The actual class is still to be decided. A few of her designs are below. Please go to her website to get a better idea of her work.
